  1. 01

    The date or dates

And a second choice if you need a weekday evening. Say how long you think you will need.

  2. 02

    Which room

Teak Room for 3 or 4 voices, the Booth for 1 or 2, or on location.

  3. 03

    How many voices

Count remote guests too. The Teak Room takes one on the link.

  4. 04

    Editing or not

Basic, Full, or raw files only.

  5. 05

    Video or not

Three fixed cameras, Teak Room only, $40 an hour.

End of July

The construction holiday

Every year we close for the two weeks of the construction holiday at the end of July, like half of Quebec. I go to a lake. The microphones go under their dust covers and the teak desk gets oiled. If you write during those weeks I will reply the Monday we reopen, in the order your messages arrived. Book the week after early; everyone else has the same idea.

Asked often

Questions

Yes, in the Teak Room. We send a browser link before the session; your guest needs a quiet room, a pair of headphones and a computer. They are recorded on their own track, so if their connection wobbles their voice can be cleaned up without touching yours. One remote guest can join alongside up to four voices at the desk.

No. There are closed-back headphones at every seat in both rooms. If you have a pair you love, bring them and the engineer will plug them in.

Yes, if the dog is a quiet one. There is room under the teak desk and a bowl of water can be arranged. A dog that barks at the door buzzer is better left at home for the hour.

No, not bands, not vocals and not voice over beats. The rooms are tuned for speech and sound flat for anything else, so we would be charging you for a worse recording than a music studio would give you.

Raw multitrack files are handed over the same day at no charge, one WAV per voice at 48 kHz and 24 bit. A Basic edit comes back in 3 business days, a Full edit in 5, and either can be rushed to 48 hours for an extra 50 percent.

Yes, and plenty of shows here do. The engineer works in both languages, the edit is done by someone who follows both, and switching halfway through a sentence is entirely normal in this building.
